The hand-fasting for Dan and Christina went great. There were a good 100 or so people there, a good majority of them actors (as well as Dan and Christina) as we were at a Renaissance Faire. The ceremony was short and was heckled by their friends. It was expected so a good time was had by all. I think the best part was when I handed them their vows to read together they started to read them when Christina stopped Dan and said "Cheat out" wherein they did so and everybody laughed. A lot. Cheat out is an actors term to turn towards the audience so as to speak so they can hear you and be included.
Anyway, it was fun. Cake was then had and lots of chatting with friends. i was honored to perform their ceremony for them and wich them all the best.
Peace,
Miister Dave

Upcoming Events
Well, this weekend I am honored to perform a hand-fasting ceremony for my really good friend Dan and his lovely girlfriend, Christina. They surprised me last year and asked that I do it. Of course I could not refuse. Unfortunately when Dan gets married he already has somebody to do that ceremony. However, he has a job for me then too. I will get to be the one that walks around with plastic cups and utensils and whenever anybody starts clinking their silverware against their glass to get the couple to kiss, I get to take it away and replace it with plastic. HAH. That will be fun.
In June I get to do a combination Wedding ceremony and Christening for a couple of my kids and "grandkid". The couple, James and Angelia, are actually already married. They did it in a small civil ceremony at the courthouse. They wanted a big ceremony for friends so we have decided that we would pot luck it and combine it with Aiden's Christening.
I'm looking forward to both and both will be fun I'm sure.
Peace,
Minister Dave

A Prayer for Peace
O Great Spirit of ourAncestors, I raise
my pipe to you.
To your messengers the four winds, and to Mother Earth who provides
for your children.
Give us the wisdom to teach our children to love, to respect, and to be kind to each
other so that they may grow with peace in mind.
Let us learn to share all good things that you provide for us on this Earth.
Peace,
Minister Dave
Danielle and Kurt
I am working on a handfasting ceremony for my sister Danielle and friend Kurt. I'm happy to see these two together.
I was asked to do their handfasting at the Northern California Rennaissnce Faire are Casa de Fruta on opening weekend. I am honored to have been chosen.
They have given me some ideas and things they want in the ceremony so I am currently writing something for them.
It'll be a nice ceremony.

Frank and Anita's Wedding
Well, I should have posted awhile ago but I got busy and it slipped my mind.
The wedding was interesting to say the least.
After a nice drive to OR I arrived at their house and headed over to the resort we were staying at. We got settled into the houses and waited for people to start arriving.
The weekend was spent with lots of friends and making of new ones.
The actual wedding day was spent with me running around helping Frank and Anita get things done and get people where they needed to be. Then it was off to the hall for the ceremony.
We started the wedding off the normal way, groomsman and bridesmaids walking down. Then when it came to Anita's turn to walk I looked up and shouted "Anna Theresa Maria de Roover, Come on down!"
This pretty much set the tone for the rest of the ceremony. We laughed and joked and made the ceremony fun. As serious as ceremonies can be we wanted this to be light and memorable. Of course the actual ceremony was nice. It could have been read as a serious piece and been somber and tearful but with the playfulness of it the contrast worked out.
We had a group of friends, The Belles of Bedlam (www.bellesofbedlam.com), perform a 50's do-wop love song song set. The brides maids danced and one of the groomsman and I pulled out our dart guns and started shooting Dan.
At the end of the ceremony when I tell the bride and groom they can kiss, Jack (the groomsman) , Andria, Rhian (bridesmaids) and I all pulled out dart guns and started shooting the happy couple.
Cocktails and then dinner and dancing followed right after.
I got a lot of compliments on the ceremony. My favorites were the ones that said, "That was a nice ceremony even if it was a bit unorthodoxed."
All in all it was my favorite wedding so far and I was very happy and pleased to be a part of it.
Peace,

Well, Frank and Anita's ceremony is finally written and sent off for approval. I think it came out really well. As soon as they give me the go ahead I'll start memorizing it and get it in the book.

Christie and Torrey
Last weekend I married one of my "kids" Christie to her fiance Torrey.
I arrived early, at the Masonic Hall in Sebastopol, to check in and get the lay of the land, so to speak, and see where the ceremony was going to take place and get details.
After meeting with Christie I knew where and when things were going to happen. All we were doing now was putting the finishing touches on things.
It turns out the music wasn't going to be able to be played in the room we were in and a boom box was called in. What, no boom box? Ok, the DJ did the next best thing and we used a laptop. The music wasn't that loud but it worked.
All we needed now was the Groom. Christie sent Torrey home for something they forgot. Torrey had to go as none of his guys were there yet.
He ended up having to do a couple of other things and ended up being late to his own wedding.
But he made it. The only hitch during the ceremony was when we tried to get the rings off the pillow and somebody had tied tehm too tight.
Otherwise the ceremony went fine. We had BBQ afterwards and toasted the happy couple.
I was very pleased to be able to marry Christie and Torrey.

New wedding and Stuff
I know I haven't posted in quite a bit. To be honest I am still getting used to the idea of having this Blog. I will try and do better about posting here. I am still unsure exactly what I will be posting though. That seems to be the rest of the problem. I'm not sure what I'd like to post about. Hopefully I will have more things coming up to post about. I will most likely start posting about upcoming services.
In the meantime:
I will be performing a ceremony for Anita and Frank on December 4th up in La Pine Oregon. I have known Anita for a few years and I am looking forward to this ceremony.
We haven't worked out the details of the ceremony yet as it's still a ways off. Most likely the ceremony will be a collaboration in which I will take their idea and flesh them out into a nice ceremony for them.
Peace,
Minister Dave
